Bayliss Public Library

Local History Materials / Steere Room

Bayliss Public Library houses the Judge Joseph H. Steere Room, an historic collection of Michigan-related books, documents, and photographs. The collection focuses primarily on Sault Sainte Marie and Chippewa County, with some materials pertaining to Luce, Mackinac, and Schoolcraft Counties.

We also have an extensive collection of microfilm, including the Sault Evening News, available back to 1903. Articles can be printed, saved, or emailed.

To make an appointment, please contact our Reference Librarian.

Steere Room use policies

Many of the materials in the Steere Room are unique, and irreplaceable. The collection is not open for casual browsing, and has a few rules which must be followed.
